Sheheen for Governor's blog

Become a Sheheen Roots Raiser

Many of you have been asking what you can do to help elect Vincent Sheheen our next Governor. Today we are announcing Roots Raisers, a grassroots fundraising program that you can share with your friends.

Help make certain our governmental bodies are staffed by the best person for the job, man or woman.

Tuesday, once again, Vincent Sheheen offered South Carolinians a new approach to moving our state forward while our opponent offered nothing more than empty slogans.

The Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics asked each of the candidates to commit to try and recruit more women to state boards and agencies. Currently women serve in only 4 of 15 cabinet agency positions and comprise only 35 percent of the 1,800 gubernatorial appointees.

Sheheen Receives Endorsement from SC Chamber of Commerce

In the wake of Rep. Nikki Haley's clinching the Republican nomination for governor, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce -- the state's premier business group -- has announced its support for Vincent in the general election.

Today in Pictures

Today was a busy day on the campaign trail.  All of our events today centered around small business development and entrepreneurship.  We kicked off the morning in Columbia with a press conference (video to follow) held at R.L. Bryan Printing, which is special to the Sheheen family because it's where Vincent's wife Amy worked during the early years of their marriage.

Following the press conference, Vincent spoke to a group of seniors at a meeting of the Golden Kiwanis Club at the Capital Senior Center.  Then we took off for Myrtle Beach for the second press conference of the day, which was held at Wild Creations, a super cool small business that sells little acquarium ecosystems.  Check out their website to learn more.  We finished the day with a delicious meal at Mrs. Fish in Myrtle Beach.  (Highly recommend the grilled grouper!)

Share your feedback with us!

We're busy gearing up for the general election here at headquarters, and we need your input. As we enter the next phase, what can our campaign improve upon? What did you think was successful?

The general election is going to be a tough fight. As our campaign's eyes and ears on the ground, it's crucial that we hear from you. Your input will help us learn how we can improve our ground strategy and build an even stronger grassroots organization that can stand up to the national money and attention we'll be running against in November.

Will you take a moment and share your feedback on the primary with us?

Thank you in advance for participating in this survey. With your help we can win this election and -- more importantly -- bridge the divides in the statehouse and start working together to build a bright future for the state we love.

A Note from Vincent

Last night Vincent sent the following message to supporters:
Friend --

I'm writing tonight to say, "Thank you!" Thank you for seeing the potential of our great state and for believing that with hard work, we can realize it. Thank you for coming together to move South Carolina forward.

Together we can repair our fractured state and build one South Carolina because, as Luke wrote in his gospel, "a house divided cannot stand." We've been divided for too long.

Amy and I deeply appreciate all that you have done for the campaign and for our family over the past year and a half. We look forward to continuing to work with you in the coming months and years ahead.

Tomorrow begins the campaign for the general election. Tomorrow we roll up our sleeves and start working to take back our state. Tonight I'm simply writing to say thank you. We wouldn't be where we are today without your support.

Very truly,

Vincent
